Anja Koenig is a social investment specialist, business analyst and policy advisor based in Berlin/Germany with more than 15 years of professional experience in research, consulting, training and finance. She has recently been appointed to the advisory council of the Impact Investing Policy Collaborative (IIPC) in San Francisco and is a strategic advisor to Angel Wings Investment Fund, Turkey’s first impact investment fund.
Between 2010 and 2014 she designed and managed the JP Morgan Chase Foundation Social Investment Program in Istanbul and as fellow of the Germany Mercator Foundation and IIPC she created research and market building platform Social Impact Markets & Policies to catalyze social impact investing in Turkey. Prior to her work in Turkey, worked with financial advisory services of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Nairobi and Frankfurt (including the audit of German Development Bank KfW), as resident advisor in the water sector with the German Development Cooperation GIZ in Nairobi, as representative of KfW in the Oversight Committee of a USD 900 million trust fund in Southern Sudan and with an economic consultancy in London. Her advisory work focused on sector reforms, public interventions and regulation, social investment finance and investment fund design, impact strategies and assessment, entrepreneurship development as well as public-private partnership design and transactions in Europe, Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Asia. Her specific experience is in the water, energy and housing sectors.
Anja holds an MBA (University Mannheim/Germany), a Diploma in Political Science and Economics (IEP Paris/France) and a Degree in Development Studies (GDI, Germany). She speaks English, French as well as some Portuguese and Turkish.
