ProjectInclusive Business Guide - How to Develop Business and Fight Poverty

(Original title: "Entwicklungsgeschäfte - Geschäfte machen gegen Armut")

Project Context

Many companies can benefit from inclusive business development, and interest in this mostly untapped segment is growing. Yet, most companies find it difficult to take the first steps into this new and challenging market. This publication provides an overview on how to build inclusive business models.

Project Objective

The primer facilitates the first steps into the development of inclusive business models. It summarizes available know how and data in an easily accessible and attractive format. Ultimately, it contributes to increased engagement of companies in low-income markets and more businesses that deliver goods, services, and income opportunities to people in poverty.

Project Output

The primer was launched in November 2009 at the GIZ Haus in Berlin, together with the project partners, BMZ and DIHK. It includes insights on the idea of inclusive business, the business opportunities and the market situation as well as concrete recommendations on how to develop such business models along the project cycle. Useful contacts and references are also included. The report has been translated into English in 2010.
