ProjectRole of the EU in Private Sector Engagement
Development partnerships with the private sector are considered to provide an effective contribution towards the achievement of development goals.
The European Union's Agenda for Change thus calls for making the private sector a key development partner to order to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth and poverty reduction. Consequently, the EU is exploring ways to support private-public collaboration and increase Private Sector Engagement in Development (PSE).
The aim of the project is to develop recommendations for the European Commission’s DG DevCo-EuropeAid with regards to possible interventions in the area of Private Sector Engagement (PSE). These recommendations will be based on three pillars:
- The identification of challenges the private sector faces when engaging in development,
- Gaps in the current landscape of donor support for PSE,
- The distinctive strength of the EU as a supranational actor.
The project will produce an internal report for the EU Commission and its member states containing the recommendations and the foundational research.
