UNDP ‘s Ecosystem Development Approach provides a tried-and-tested methodology for bringing stakeholders together around a shared objective. Pilots in Lesotho, Senegal and Uganda show that the approach effectively enables collaboration, e.g. for more inclusive tourism, access to energy or mobile money.

In this approach, UNDP provides the active ingredient of coordination and convening. Actors from business, government, academia, civil society come together in an Action Platform to create a vision of a future ecosystem, design a path towards it and implement together.

An Innovation Challenge seeds business innovation directly. Pilot initiatives have resulted, for example, in changes in taxes and tariffs, quality standards, technical trainings, as well as digital solutions by startups.
